Government has eliminated the acting managing director of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Company Limited (SNGPL), Amer Tufail, for issuing higher gas bills to over three million consumers during the winters.
Government Eliminates Active SNGPL MD on Higher Gas Bills
SNGPL issued a notice in this respect stating that the board decided to withdraw the owner, MD Amir Tufail. Mahmood Ahmad Zia took the additional cost of SNGPL MD.
This is the second SNGPL MD that has been eliminated by the current government in recent months. Previously, the abnormally higher invoices caused a strong consumer protest. The government has set up a four-member committee to investigate the problem of over-billing gas.
Earlier, on January 8, Prime Minister Imran Khan dismissed the managing directors of the Southern Northern and Sui Southern companies when he received a report from the research committee on the gas crisis.
The prime minister requested and reimbursed the additional amount charged by gas consumers to identify the person responsible for the over payment invoices.
