If you type “antivirus” into the Google Play Store search list, you’ll see over 200 applications claiming anti-virus programs, but how do you know they all work? AV comparisons have made the task difficult for us and tested 250 applications by 2018, claiming to be anti-virus programs

To our surprise, 170 of them did not pass the test, making two thirds of the monsters. These applications do nothing to detect malicious behavior. They only use black lists and whitelist to filter out unwanted programs. It’s not effective, and most applications are just a fake interface ad platform.

The applications that passed the AV comparative test were all of companies that have a strong background in internet security. The rest was found as a hoax. These applications are made up of inexperienced programmers and amateurs.

It has also been noted that over 30 fake antivirus programs have disappeared from the gaming store over the past few months. Therefore, it is more feasible to install anti-virus programs from well-known vendors.

Having achieved what Google Play Store does to prevent malware from infecting Android devices, there is a review process that only checks whether the program is harmful, but this process only works for the already known malware.

When it comes to the quality of malware applications, Google Play Store has no established standards.
